Welcome to Vancouver! The local experience committee has organized a few activities to help new and seasoned visitors enjoy their visit just a little more.

Those who arrive early on Thursday, June 9, can join colleagues for dinner at Milestones on Denman Street to enjoy food, friendship, and fantastic views across English Bay. Please drop in between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm to get the party started.

Conference participants not attending a pre-conference session on Friday morning can join a walking tour of the local neighbourhood (Vancouver’s famous West End) with local expert John Atkin. The Joy Kagawa House tour has been cancelled.

Those interested in an afternoon outing on Friday can join us for a guided boat tour of Burrard Inlet, a spectacular natural harbour guarded by towering mountains and home to Canada’s busiest seaport. Harbour Cruises offers comfortable boats and informed narration during the hour-long cruise. The cost is approximately $35 per person.

Alternatively, join editor and volunteer streamkeeper Paul Cipywnyk to explore Byrne Creek Ravine in nearby Burnaby. Meet him at Edmonds SkyTrain Station at 3:00 pm at the only exit, near a row of newspaper boxes. No cost for the walk (60–70 minutes) itself, but transit from the hotel will cost $6.75 there, $4.00 return.

Register today for one or more of these exciting activities! For more information, please contact 2016conferenceexperience@editors.ca.

We will also provide a list of self-guided outings so you can explore the region on your own time. Stay tuned for more information.
