Profile

My strengths are an instinctive grasp of the whole and a conscientious application to detail.

I have fifteen years of editing experience, working mainly one-on-one with professional academics in the humanities and political sciences, and in international relations.  I have edited for authors publishing with houses such as the University of Toronto Press, the University of Ottawa Press, University of Michigan Press, and Novalis Publishing, and in journals such as International Studies Quarterly. My clients are repeat customers who enthusiastically refer me to others.

I specialize in English-language editing for academics writing in English as their second language, combining copy and stylistic editing to ensure a clear, correct, and natural use of English.

While I aim for clear and effective style, this is always tempered by respect for the author’s voice.  I enjoy working with complex ideas and strong voices and am particularly interested in book projects — academic or mainstream, fact or fiction.

PhD (Drama), MA (English), Copy editing (Ryerson), Proofreading (EAC), Syntax of Style (EAC); Editing Fiction (EAC).  Additional skills are dramaturgy, writing, transcription, and research. Other subject areas include Israel, the Middle East, theatre, cultural studies, media studies, and visual culture.
