About SFU's Book Editing Immersion Workshop
The six-day Book Editing Immersion Workshop (SUMM 412) is held from July 26 to August 1, 2009, at SFU's Harbour Centre campus in downtown Vancouver.
SFU's Book Editing Immersion Workshop attracts students from across Canada. Students will edit manuscripts by published authors, work one-on-one with faculty advisors and attend classroom presentations by faculty and guest speakers.
By the end of the course, students will be familiar with:
- Evaluating manuscripts for publication
- Developing successful working relations with authors
- Organizing content with both publisher and reader in mind
- Editing text for clarity and style
- Preparing sales and marketing materials such as catalogue copy

The winning bid will pay for the workshop enrolment fee, but the winner of this auction must still apply to SFU for a place in the workshop. Immersion workshops are non-residential. Participants must arrange for their own accommodation and meals, and pay for their travel to Vancouver.
