Call for Speaker Proposals: EAC Toronto Conference 2014 (June 6–8)

The conference committee is now accepting session proposals for Tracking Change: e-Merging Methods and Markets, the 2014 EAC Conference in Toronto.

While the theme seems to speak for itself, we encourage members to think broadly when it comes to tracking change. Technology may be at the heart of most change these days, but we also hope to explore the larger implications of change for editors and their work and the world in which they live.

We look forward to considering all of your session ideas; however, we are especially keen to receive proposals for the following specific topics:

  • Developing and teaching workshops and courses
  • The business of self-employment
  • Project management
  • Writing and editing for SEO
  • Plain language/clear language
  • Legal editing
  • Medical editing
  • Corporate editing
  • Editing illustrative or graphic materials
  • Proofreading on and for e-readers
  • Editing in bilingual contexts/Réviser dans des contextes bilingues
  • Leveraging multi-language skills/Miser vos habiletés multilingues
  • Réviser des textes français langue seconde
  • La langue et la culture franco-ontarienne

The conference committee is also looking for potential panelists on the topics listed below:

  • Marketing editorial services internationally
  • Adapting to imposed limitations
  • Working as an in-house managing editor
  • Pitching editing services to non-traditional clients
  • Subcontracting
