I am an editor who specializes in humanities, social science, and technical subjects; fantasy and literary fiction; and business materials. I also offer editorial services for video game developers, including editing scripts and marketing materials.
My ultimate goal as an editor is to make your work shine, and I'll always respect your voice and individual style. I am detailed, diligent, and organized, and colleagues have spoken highly of my work.
My past experiences include editing websites, proposals, marketing pieces and emails, and surveys for an academic publisher. I managed the production and copy editing of two corporate websites, tested and edited an Microsoft online course, revised a custom Microsoft textbook, and blogged for a student-focused website. I have also edited essays and résumés for individual clients and fiction for indie authors. I currently volunteer with Editors Canada as the Volunteer of the Month profile writer and as a copy editor for the BoldFace blog.
I graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and Sociology, and I have a publishing certificate from Humber College. Through my training in the Simon Fraser University editing program, I am familiar with editing best practices, grammar, copy editing and proofreading marks, and on-screen editing with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat. I believe lifelong learning is important in order to keep up with emerging technologies and practices; I am committed to continuing my professional development by enrolling in courses, seminars, and webinars.
When not editing, I enjoy reading (especially genre fiction), writing, playing video games, practicing the piano, going to the theatre, watching sports (the Olympics and hockey), and listening to music.
