Profile

I'm a developmental and line editor; I offer compassionately critical evaluation and editing of young adult, new adult, romance, memoir, and speculative fiction manuscripts.

I work with authors at all stages of their careers, but I'm particularly skilled at helping first time authors get their books out into the world. Whether it's a multi-year passion project manuscript or a roughly sketched outline and a dream, I guide authors through the process of bringing their first novel to completion.

My editing style is highly collaborative and holistic. I strive to be in conversation with the manuscript and the author, to guide and nudge, and to challenge where necessary.  I offer a particular sensitivity to the social context we bring to our writing, and I use that to help authors refine their stories and express their truths.

In addition to freelancing, I'm also an editorial reader at a New York based literary agency, where I focus on young adult fiction. I'm familiar with the intricacies of the traditional publishing industry, as well as the demands of the independent and self-publishing markets.

I have a Master's degree in Critical Disability Studies and a B.A. (H) in English and Philosophy.  My scholarly work is forthcoming in 2017, and I have received grants and scholarships for my research. In addition to fiction and memoir, I also edit academic work in the social sciences and humanities.
