MAD ABOUT MARKETING?

EAC's looking for a chair for its national Marketing and Public Relations Committee. Is that you?

. But here's the story for the coming year.

Many of the day-to-day marketing tasks and much of the overall planning, coordinating and budgeting are now handled by our association's communications manager, Michelle Ou. Association marketing isn't a job where you're starting from scratch or with no support.

There are two big tasks on the horizon: recruiting and managing a marketing advisory group, and recruiting and supervising volunteers to work on short jobs like press releases and web copy.

The marketing advisory group provides sustained feedback on internal and external communication plans (strategy, tactics, vehicles, measurement and more). Marketing volunteers have suitable writing and editing or graphic design and layout skills, and they help as their time permits with specific tasks identified in the annual communications calendar.

The ideal chair is creative, flexible, persuasive and persistent. The chair has experience in marketing, communications planning and volunteer management, especially within the non-profit sector. He or she has worked within the association, preferably in a marketing, programs, membership or branch or national executive role. He or she can delegate tasks, motivate others and monitor outcomes, and thrives on collaborative results. Strong and fast writing and editing skills are required, as is a sense of humour.

How will you benefit? You'll have the satisfaction of helping move the association forward in its marketing communication, you'll have an impact on the financial bottom line and you'll develop some splendid pieces for your professional portfolio.

Interested? Please contact Maureen Nicholson, chair of the National Nominating Committee, by the early deadline of April 24: nominations@editors.ca.
