Scam aimed at editors targets EAC

Members of EAC and various other editors' and translators' groups have been contacted with variations of the same scam. The scammer emails, asks for your rates, then sends you a document to work on and asks for your mailing address. They pay up front with a cheque that will bounce on you, and ask you to reimburse them for an overpayment before the cheque bounces.

There IS no work opportunity—they've approached hundreds of us.

Don't get involved!

EAC has reported the scam to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, and a file has been opened on our behalf. If you have responded to this scam and received a cheque from them, please report your involvement to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. The person to speak to is Linda. Our file number is 769115.
