WestJet

WestJet is offering EAC conference attendees 10 percent off regular fares into and out of Halifax, for travel up to 3 days before and 3 days after the conference (flights between June 4 and 12).

If you’re booking a WestJet flight to the conference, use convention code CC7821 for 10 percent off their best available fare at the time of the booking (excluding seat sales and web fares).

[Note: EAC’s conference committee recommends searching online before booking a WestJet flight at 10 percent off. You might find lower rates through airline ticket discounters. Or waiting for a WestJet seat sale might save you more, since the conference discount doesn’t apply to seat sales.]

Getting to the Lord Nelson Hotel

1515 South Park St, Halifax     View Google map >
902-423-6331

From the airport . . .

By taxi: Many taxi companies serve the airport. The taxi stand is just outside the doors nearest the baggage carousels. The cost of a cab to downtown Halifax s about $60.

By limo: The hotel does not have a shuttle service, but you can book a limo for pickup at the airport. The cost is $55 for up to four people. Here's how to do it:

Send an email to ask@lordnelsonhotel.com with the following information:

PICKUP: ( state at airport or hotel)
     GUEST NAME:
     FLIGHT NUMBER:
     TIME OF ARRIVAL:
     GUEST PHONE#
     GUEST EMAIL:

On arrival, report to G.T.I. Ground Transportation in the arrivals area.

For returns to the ariport, book with the hotel.

By bus: A city bus, Metro Transit #320, serves the airport. The fare is $3.25; ask for a transfer (when you arrive downtown, you will need to take a connecting bus).      View bus schedule >

Bus connections, once you arrive downtown:

  1. Get off the 320 at the Dartmouth stop (Bridge Terminal) and take the #1 Spring Garden, which stops at the hotel’s side door on Spring Garden Road (ask for the stop at South Park); or
  2. Get off at the Halifax stop (Mumford Terminal) and take the #1 Spring Garden and get off at the stop at Victoria Park (southwest corner of Spring Garden Road and South Park Street), diagonally across from the hotel; or
  3. Catch a cab from the Bridge Terminal (Bob’s 463-2222 or 465-5555) or the Mumford Terminal (Casino Taxi 429-6666 or 425-6666; Yellow Cab 420-0000).

By car:

  1. Take the Halifax/Dartmouth exit off the airport road onto Highway 102. Follow the signs for Dartmouth/Highway 118.
  2. Continue on the 118 until you see the exit for Halifax via the A. Murray MacKay Bridge (Hwy 111).
  3. Take the exit and stay in the lane for the toll bridge ($1).
  4. If you have a loonie ready, take any open toll booth that doesn’t say “MacPass Only.” If you need change, go to the booth with the icon of a person on it.
  5. Cross the MacKay Bridge (still known as the “new” bridge, even though it’s been there since 1973; off to your left is where the Halifax Explosion took place in 1917) and take the Robie Street exit.
  6. Stay on Robie until you get to Spring Garden Road (7th set of lights).
  7. Turn left onto Spring Garden.
  8. Turn left onto South Park (2nd set of lights) and into the Lord Nelson’s driveway. Valet parking is available.

From the train/bus station . . .

By taxi: This is probably the easiest way to get to the hotel from the VIA station. Expect to pay $6 to $10, depending on the time of day. There are usually taxis at the common stand out front and across the street.

On foot: If you’re travelling light, you can have a nice walk to the hotel that’ll take about 20 minutes:

  1. Exit the station.
  2. Walk across the park in front of you (Cornwallis Park) to Barrington Street.
  3. Turn right onto Barrington and proceed north to Spring Garden Road.
  4. Turn left onto Spring Garden and walk west to South Park Street.
  5. Turn right and walk about 20 metres to the Lord Nelson driveway.
