Do you need someone objective to read over what you have written? Working in partnership with you, I can ensure that your written communication is clear, concise, correct and consistent.
I have edited reports, executive summaries, policies, procedures, guides, action plans, tools, research papers, journal articles, Web content and resumés for several sectors — federal government, non-profit, business, science, health care and HR (human resources).
Feedback on my editing work has been positive:
"You have provided an eagle eye, pertinent and detailed queries, and good editorial instinct re subtleties of meaning."
"Thanks for the careful work."
"It has been great working with you."
"Thanks for your excellent analysis. You have taught me a lot about editing and the need to be clear and certain in what one is saying."
I have completed Ryerson University's course in copy editing for books, journals and reports with a grade of 84 percent. I have also attended many Editors Canada professional development seminars: proofreading, plain language, editing for the Web, scholarly editing, eight-step editing, grammar, punctuation, editing federal government reports and substantive editing. Back at the beginning, my Grade 8 grammar teacher along with my Bachelor of Arts in English from Queen's University gave me a solid foundation for editing.
My pre-editing work experience includes teaching at the elementary school level and both front-line work and program management in social services (developmental disabilities). Clear language has always been front and centre in my world.
