One thing I like about editing is the variety of tasks and skills required. Years ago, I started working as a photo editor/picture researcher and editing government correspondence. Then on to editing a marketing journal and proofreading a medical journal, leaping into desktop publishing and editing an alternative medicine newsletter and an agricultural biodiversity magazine, projects I still work on. I ventured into project management and database organization in creating the 1996 EAC Directory. Drawing on my MBA education and marketing experience, I have become a specialist in editing marketing and other business articles—over 800 for a small business information service for their Web site, as well as college and university business textbooks, and workplace health and safety manuals. More recent projects include creating several issues of listings of professional theatres, editing two massive proposals from a healthcare company, and editing a mystery novel.
