Craven Editorial is a partnership of dedicated, talented, and creative professional editors and writers who want to make your text the best it can be. Meaghan and Kirsten Craven bring a combined 25 years of experience in the Canadian publishing industry to the projects they work on. Meaghan Craven, B.A. (Hons), lives and works near Nelson in the West Kootenays of British Columbia. She left her in-house position as managing editor at Fifth House Publishers in Calgary to pursue freelance writing, editorial, and research opportunities. She has edited books for Banff Centre Press, Broadview, Fifth House Publishers, Fitzhenry & Whiteside, Heritage House, Kingsley Publishing, McGraw-Hill Ryerson, Rocky Mountain Books, Touchwood Editions, University of Alberta Press, UBC Press, and others. In addition to editorial work, Meaghan has written science and social studies materials for secondary school textbooks and has ghost written a number of children's books. Meaghan (as copy-editor) was the co-recipient of the Lois Hole Award for Editorial Excellence at the 2010 Alberta Book Awards for People of the Lakes: Stories of Our Van Tat Gwich'in Elders/Googwandak Nakhwach'anjoo Van Tat Gwich'in (by Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation and Shirleen Smith, University of Alberta Press).
Kirsten Craven, B.A., LL.B., is a freelance editor, writer, and policy researcher living in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has edited books for Broadview, Fifth House Publishers, Goose Lane Editions, UBC Press, University of Ottawa Press, University of Toronto Press, Whitecap Books, and others. Drawing on her background in law, she has authored policy reports for different levels of government, including Health Canada and New Brunswick's Human Rights Commission. She has written science feature articles for McGraw-Hill Ryerson, and she writes fiction, which has appeared in both Canadian and American literary journals.
