I am one of those people plagued by the curse. Every time I read a newsletter, book or correspondence from a family member or friend, any spelling errors or grammatical mistakes jump right off the page and wave red flags in my face. It became so bad one year the mother of my children refused to allow me to see the newsletters sent home from the children's schools. My red pen would mysteriously appear in my hand and the note would be marked up and returned to the school. Of course it would be her on the receiving end of comments from the teacher. C'est la vie.
