Profile

SUMMARY

Effective communication is as much about writing and editing as it is about the layout and design of the page. I combine my love for the written word with graphic design skills and a background in the visual arts to ensure that each publication–whether it’s a book, a brochure, or a website–hooks the reader and communicates the message clearly and creatively.

BACKGROUND AND AREAS OF EXPERTISE

With a Master's degree in art history, and eight years of experience in administrative and curatorial work for art galleries in Vancouver, Burnaby, Toronto, Mississauga, and Cape Town (South Africa), I bring a strong understanding of visual culture to my editing work. I have a working knowledge of the arts and culture, heritage, international development, and non-profit sectors.

CURRENT ACTIVITIES

In-house: writer and editor for a graduate theological college

I currently work part-time as a writer and editor for Regent College, a theological graduate school affiliated with the University of British Columbia. I edit the College's newsletter, and create and edit text for all marketing materials for external audiences, including brochures, posters, e-newsletters, and the website. I also look after the organization's style guide, ensuring consistency across all publications.
