Margaret Shaw, MSc

Profile

With 21 years of professional experience, an MSc, and a writing and editing diploma, I work mostly with scientific and technical material. I excel at taking disjointed information and making it easy to follow and easy to read.

Past projects

I have a wide variety of experience that includes student and teacher manuals, corporate training materials, proposals, technical procedures, environmental reports, science textbook chapters, and website content strategy.

I co-chaired the EAC committee that produced the 2011 EAC study guide Structural Editing: Meeting Professional Editorial Standards. I also contributed an original exercise, compiled the resources list, and proofread the entire book.

Credentials

Certified Structural and Stylistic Editor (EAC). Print Futures: Professional Writing diploma (Douglas College). BSc (biology and geology). MSc (earth sciences/hydrogeology). Member, EAC and Canadian Science Writers' Association. Twenty-one years of professional experience.

Level of service

"Her talents as an editor, writer and researcher were exemplary and in short order we had concrete solutions to our problem...she is a kind, friendly and consummate professional who is a multidimensional, solutions-oriented thinker." --Steven M. Daniel, Department of Education, Culture and Employment, Government of the Northwest Territories
