During my ten years as a freelance editor, I have worked with novice, intermediate, and established writers. I'm sensitive to writers' needs and offer honest but respectful feedback. My experience as an in-house editor for an Alberta publishing company, as well as my background in journalism, corporate communications, and public relations, gives me the skills to edit many writing styles and genres. I have edited both literary and genre fiction, as well as short stories and novels for children and young adults. My non-fiction editing includes memoirs, text books, guide books, cook books, feature articles, corporate newsletters, business communications, and proposals. I enjoy all aspects of editing, but I take particular pleasure in helping writers transform convoluted text into effective, elegant prose. Because I realize editing is a bit of a mystery to new writers, I have created an information sheet that describes the different levels of editing and explains how I approach substantive editing, copy editing, and critiquing. For those writers who want more help with their writing project than a substantive edit, I also offer coaching editing and ghostwriting. If you would like a copy of my information sheet or wish to discuss your writing project, please contact me at kozak-lp@telus.net. References, published acknowledgements, and titles of published books are available on request. |
