Language is full of magic. It is the gateway to the thoughts produced by another mind. Words give us insight into another’s experience of reality. They can release us from the physical restraints of time and place, transporting us elsewhere. I like to write in as simple and digestible a form as possible. I don’t mean that the complex nuances of language need to be sacrificed. Words are much more than their dictionary definition. They have structure, shape, sound and cadence. Synonyms have similar, not identical, meanings. Each word has subtleties that can’t be reproduced by a different word. I have been a freelance editor for three years. Prior to that, I edited journal and book manuscripts in academia. I have edited books on science and religion among other subjects. Currently I am working on manuscripts in the area of consciousness and am developing marketing campaigns for book sales using AdWord and Facebook. I have a very eclectic background with excellent command of English. I can write clearly on a wide range of topics and I have little difficulty approaching a topic from different angles. I have published scientific papers and have given presentations at the Midwestern Psychological Association, the National Center for Toxicological Research and the Research Society of Alcoholism. I have had poetry, essays and letters-to-the-editor published. I have a doctorate in experimental psychobiology and have engaged in research in learning/memory, alcohol use and abuse, developmental neurobehavioral toxicology and child neglect and harm reduction. I have taught over 20 different courses at the university/college level for sixteen years. These courses include general undergraduate psychology courses, neuroscience, history & philosophy of science, statistics & research methodology, substance abuse and career development. I have owned and operated several businesses: a café, a restaurant, a bookstore that had both a physical and an online presence, and house painting. Coffee, Middle Eastern foods and Southern-style cooking are particular areas of expertise. I have worked in the nuclear industry, microbiology labs and janitorial services. I have traveled throughout North America via hitchhiking, motorcycles, buses and trains. I have trained in Aikido and fenced. I have studied piano, guitar, banjo and fiddle. I am a political junkie with a worldview who is studying several languages including French, Spanish, Polish and Armenian.
