A versatile and experienced editor, I began my career at Oxford University Press in England in 1987 and have since worked in-house for several leading Canadian book publishers—including five years as a senior editor at Penguin Group (Canada) and five years as an editor at Doubleday Canada. More recently, I have also worked as an editor in marketing communications. With an MA in English Literature and a BSc in Biology, I have a broad academic background. My interests are diverse, and I believe that good editing, like good writing, should be economical; it should help the writer’s voice to emerge without altering his or her individual style. In 2010, a book that I substantively edited won the Governor General’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction: Lakeland: Journeys into the Soul of Canada by Allan Casey. |
