Betty Anne Benes

Profile

***Certified French-to-English Translator***Bilingual Editor***Copy Editor*** My in-depth knowledge of Canada’s two official languages makes me an ideal editor for clients who want consistent bilingual versions of their documents. I can easily detect the discrepancies in meaning and omissions that occur during the translation process. When required, I perform an English copy edit in addition to the parallel reading and revision. Clients appreciate my recommendations and the professionalism I demonstrate when asking questions and making comments.

I capitalize on many of the skills learned during my many years as a teacher and while training to become a translator (certified since 2003). After having spent over three years in a fast-paced environment at a translation firm and subsequently at Health Canada as a copy editor, I now work independently. My experience includes work for over 30 federal departments and agencies as well as the City of Ottawa, the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum and a number of health institutions. I have also been involved as a volunteer of the Editors’ Association of Canada since 2008.
