I have extensive experience writing and editing for both academic/professional audiences and the lay public. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Human Physiology at McGill University in 2001, followed by a Master’s of Science in Neuroscience, with an emphasis on Psychology and Psychiatry, in 2004. During my postgraduate studies and as lab manager at the Rotman Research Institute in Toronto, I wrote scientific papers and abstracts for peer-reviewed journals, clinical reports based on the neurocognitive studies I conducted, and grant submissions for funding. I also copy edited and proofread scientific papers, PhD and MSc dissertations, grant applications, and Research Ethics Board submissions. I have also written and published a blog describing my experiences as in-country director for Haiti Village Health while volunteering recently in Haiti. I currently work as a Medical Writer and Editor at Glia Scientific Communication, writing reports on pharmaceutical consultative and advisory board meetings, and creating Continuing Medical Education programs. I am also a freelance editor, with experience in editing pop culture magazines, recipe books, and scientific papers written by non-native English authors. Some thoughts about my work: Namita did an AMAZING job proofing my paper for submission to Nature Neuroscience. She is quite thorough and meticulous. Thank you, Namita! -Daniela Jones, PhD candidate in Psychology Namita did a thorough job editing my Ph.D. dissertation "Investigating the impact of diffuse axonal injury on working memory performance following traumatic brain injury using functional and diffusion neuroimaging methods." It was accepted without revision and one of my reviewers commented that there was not a comma out of place. I highly recommend Namita as an editor. -Dr. Gary Turner, Scientist, Heart and Stroke Foundation Centre for Stroke Recovery &Brain Sciences Research Program As a recent member of the research industry, I understand the value of scientific pursuit. As an editor, I know the importance of communicating these concepts in the most effective way. |
