Introduction to Graphic Design
This seminar is designed to introduce editors to the basics of graphic design, with an emphasis on the working relationship between content providers and designers. Topics will include the fundamentals of graphic design, industry terminology, and typography, as well as how designers turn content into finished products, with a focus on the dos and don’ts of print production, preparing materials for HTML, and the importance of building in accessibility for people with disabilities.
Participants will leave the seminar with a better understanding of the design process, greater confidence when communicating with designers, and the ability to foresee issues that may arise while preparing content.
Dave McKay is a freelance graphic artist with more than 20 years of experience in providing high-quality illustration, design, and production services. He has worked for educational and corporate publishers, packaging companies, and advertising agencies.
