How to Self-publish and Market your Print on Demand and e-Book

This self-publishing workshop covers a variety of topics related to publishing and marketing print and electronic versions of your book. The following topics will be covered:

  • Print on demand (POD), or why you no longer need book inventory
  • Difference between POD, vanity publishing, and vanity POD
  • POD companies/options
  • Specific information about several popular POD companies
  • Distribution in Amazon.com/.ca, Chapters.Indigo.ca, and other online retailers
  • E-book publishing using Kindle (Amazon's e-book) and EPUB formats (for Kobo and other e-readers)
  • ISBN (and why and how to get yours)
  • Overview of technical tools you need to self-publish using POD and/or e-books
  • Importance of defining and targeting your audience (before you write)
  • Overview of book marketing options, such as websites, blogs, and social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube)


This workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to self-publish and sell print and/or electronic versions of a fiction or non-fiction book.

 

Paul Lima has worked as a professional writer and writing instructor for over 25 years. He has run a successful freelance-writing and business-writing-training business since 1988.
