Profile

I provide versatile services to self-publishing authors, independent creators and clients, including editing, design, planning and management, and more.

Along with substantive editing, copyediting, proofreading, and scriptwriting services, I've managed the development and production of prose, graphic novels, children's books and stories, screenplays, short films, table-top roleplaying games, board game rules, and personal literature while delivering business plans, marketing, design, captioning, negotiations, budgeting, and limited accounting practices over multi-year cycles. I have edited projects with an eye toward descriptive prose, sensitivity, alternative experiences, adult content, and LGTBQ* profiles.

Unrelated to editing, I also work as a photogapher, podcaster, fantasy cartographer, writer, and ttrpg game dev. I don't sleep much, but I lead a busy, varied life that brings an avalanche of curious information and skills to whatever task or contract I take accept.

Some Testimonials:

"I have worked with Alex as both his editor and an author submitting my work to his scrutiny. As an editor, Alex is precisely the kind of creative collaborator you would want contributing to your work. He is respectful and very thorough in his commentary, both explaining his changes and offering suggestions which challenge you to create a better, more polished piece. He offers input on every level requested, from format to content, but never presumes to involve himself without invitation. He is open to review and discuss his edits upon request in an open dialogue, and is understanding of preserving the author's voice.

As an author, Alex is incredibly receptive to any and all feedback. He is delightful to work with as he is very motivated to create the most polished piece he can, and invites you to express all constructive criticism without restraint. That having been said, his writing is usually exceptionally clean and his stylistic choices very strong. I would encourage any editor or author to work with Alex if the opportunity presents itself."
