I have been pursuing an editing and book design career since January 2019, and am happy to say I have successfully completed George Brown College's Editing Certificate program. In addition to the theoretical work, I have edited ezine articles, blogs, children's stories, short fiction, and personal essays.
In the past I have worked in the field of private investigations, where I wrote and / or edited, hundreds of investigative reports for a select group of private investigation firms in the Greater Toronto Area. In addition, my experience includes over fifteen years in the insurance industry, predominantly in surety bonding; over eight years in accounting; and ten years of holistic health and metaphysical practice.
I have also designed and / or adapted created several ebooks for publication, and am adept at using styles to design book interiors.
I have written and edited short stories, screenplays, poetry, and marketing copy of my own, as well as for others. In 2002, my short script Blackfeather was nominated for Ryerson University's short script award, and in 2003, my screenplay Southern Starr made it into the top ten per cent of the prestigious "Nicholl Fellowship Competition."
My ebook anthology of Flash Fictions Light in the Dark by A.P. Cairns is available on Amazon.com and Kobo.com. My second book, Skinny and Me, a "Sherlock Holmes" type, novella length book based on a Private Investigator and her very unusual side-kick, will be available soon as an ebook.
My hobbies include knitting, crocheting, stained glass, puzzles, aviation, and of course, reading. My favourite story genres are science-fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, and mystery.
