Editors Canada Volunteer Participation

  • Publications (2015)

I offer clients cheerful professionalism and many years' experience, both in house and freelance. From 1998 to 2011, I worked in the Higher Education division at Pearson Education Canada as a supervising production editor for postsecondary textbooks in the humanities and social sciences; English handbooks were a specialty. I also hired and trained other editors and recruited freelancers. Since returning to freelance work, I've been enjoying the variety: I welcome small nonbook projects. My strengths are detailed copy editing and proofreading (Adobe Acrobat); tactful clarification of both style and meaning; strong organizational skills; and awareness of production requirements and the in-house editor's needs. I enjoy excellent relations with clients and authors. I've also taught EAC seminars on knowledge of the publishing process and résumés for editors, and was a runner-up for the 1993 Tom Fairley Award for Editorial Excellence.
