Editors Canada Volunteer Participation

  • Publications (2015)

I'm a very experienced (practically vintage) editor; I've spent about half my career in house as a production editor and supervisor, and the other half as a freelancer. I now freelance only, but prefer smaller projects, either editing or proofreading. My strengths are detailed copy editing and proofreading (Adobe Acrobat); tactful clarification of both style and meaning; strong organizational skills; and sensitivity to the client's or in-house editor's needs. I enjoy excellent relations with clients and authors. Teaching and mentoring are as important to me as editing: I've taught proofreading for the Ryerson publishing certificate program and seminars on knowledge of the publishing process and résumés for editors for EAC (now Editors Canada). In 1993, I was a runner-up for the Tom Fairley Award for Editorial Excellence. If you're a potential client and not sure what you need, I'm happy to explain what I can offer and how it fits into the bigger picture.
