I am a meticulous editor with a keen eye for detail and a passion for research and learning. I specialize in editing educational and academic texts and have experience editing and writing web content for small businesses and clubs.

I have a Bachelor of Science, Major in Marine Biology from the University of British Columbia in Canada, a Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of Wollongong in Australia (equivalent to a Bachelor of Education in Canada), and a Professional Editing Certificate from Mount Royal University in Alberta, Canada. I achieved top grades in all my academic pursuits and pride myself on my attention to detail and high-quality editing and writing. I use my background in science and education to support authors’ editorial needs and ensure their message reaches its intended audience.

I was a teacher for over five years in the Alberta public school system before becoming an editor. My classroom experience allows me to see educational resources from the perspective of teachers and students while also applying my expertise as an editor and writer. I will ensure your educational resources are relevant and relatable to students and practical for teachers.

My writing experience includes instructional design plans, blogs, website and social media content, business plans, and academic papers. My editing experience includes online content, academic papers, resumes, and educational reports. My latest project was editing and writing website content for a Swiss Folk Dance Club.

I have travelled extensively throughout my life (Portugal, Africa, Switzerland, Australia, Iceland, Ireland, The United Kingdom) and worked with diverse cultures during my time as a student and a teacher including work with Indigenous Canadians, respectfully integrating Indigenous ways of knowing into classroom practice. My travels and cultural experiences have led me to embrace and celebrate diversity. As your editor or writer, I will strive to understand your perspective and ensure your work is respectful to the cultures represented.

See what my past clients are saying:

“It was a pleasure working with Becky. She recently completed the copyedit of a STEM-focused manuscript for middle readers as her first project with Annick Press. Becky quickly adapted to the nuances of our house style and asked pertinent questions at the outset of the project, making for an efficient working process. Her copyediting was detail-oriented and reflected both her background in science and her understanding of the reading level for the age group--a rare combination to find in a copyeditor. Her communication throughout was prompt and clear. I would recommend Becky with confidence and I look forward to working with her on future projects.”—Kaela Cadieux, Managing Editor, Annick Press, 2020

“I was very impressed with her precise work, inspired editing, and all the research she did to learn about the traditions and history of Swiss folk dances and dress... I recommend Becky’s inspiring writing to all my friends and colleagues.” —Daniela Raduner, President  Swiss Folk Dance Club Alpenrösli, 2020

“I found myself nodding with just how much more sense my sentences made and just how well she made my writing flow. The entire process was extremely beneficial and allowed me to move forward in my business. If you need help clarifying the message you want to put out, I would recommend Becky in a heartbeat. She’s polite, professional, and hard working. You won’t be disappointed.” —Brady Munro, Local Business Owner, 2020

“Thanks to her assistance I did indeed win accreditation from the society and that will of course be life-changing.”—Gordon Hiebert, Photographer and Business Owner, 2020

"Becky’s work was quick and thorough.” —Jennifer Shehata, Local Business Owner, 2019
