Fact, fiction or a creative blend? Major reshaping or the final touches? With two decades of experience as a freelance book editor, I help authors and publishers in all kinds of ways with all kinds of manuscripts.
Before editing books, I was a career newspaper journalist — positions included books editor and news editor at The Globe and Mail in Toronto and political reporter for the Edmonton Journal.
So I have a highly disciplined background that helps with meeting deadlines, respecting authors and caring about accuracy.
The main editorial services I offer are:
- substantive/structural editing
- copy editing
- manuscript evaluation.
My love of language means that I also enjoy assignments involving writing or rewriting.
Clients include major Canadian publishers of fiction, nonfiction and textbooks. Most of my other clients are individual authors and those who attend my “Editing Workshop ... for writers too.”
