Toronto, ON M6G 1K8
Experienced public speaker, available to talk to groups and associations about editors and editing.

Specializing in fiction (Random House, published novelist, writing teacher), academic writing (University of Toronto, Massey College Editorial Fellow, Ph.D.), and communications (Samara Canada, BlackBerry, etc.). I'm experienced, diligent, insightful, and diplomatic, and I take my work seriously.

Literary – I have over ten years of experience as an editor, first with Random House and since then with a variety of private clients. I offer manuscript assessments that give a sense of the strengths and weaknesses of your work,  as well as stylistic and structural editing to help you find the shape when you’ve lost sight of it. I am a published novelist, teach creative writing at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, and offer private coaching/mentoring services to help you get unstuck and finish work that’s half-resolved.  With my experience of the publishing industry, I can give advice on finding an agent and publisher.

Academic - My experience includes stylistic and structural editing of academic books and articles, and copy editing and proofreading research grant proposals (including SSRHC Insight Grants, NSERC Discovery Grants, Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship applications, etc.). I am the Editorial Fellow at Massey College, where I help graduate students and faculty refine and complete academic articles and Ph.D. theses, as well as developmental editing to reshape research projects into non-fiction books. I have worked recently with faculty in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough. I earned my Ph.D. in English Literature at the University of Toronto, and have published several academic articles.

Communications – My work with private and public sector organizations includes writing and editing reports, newsletters, web content, media supplements, and interviews. I have worked for organizations such as Samara Canada and BlackBerry, and have experience in a variety of areas, including technology, communications, finance, and public policy. I am available for structural, stylistic and copy editing to sharpen and perfect work in these fields. I am also Editor-in-Residence with the Health, Arts, and Humanities Program at Mount Sinai Hospital.
