I love words: reading them, writing them, making them do tricks.
I've edited a newspaper, newsletters, magazines and books, and I myself am the award-winning author of more than sixty books of science fiction, non-fiction, and fantasy for readers of all ages. I've served as writer-in-residence at both the Regina and Saskatoon Public Libraries, in the course of which I've edited the work of multiple authors.
As an author, I've won an Aurora Award for best Canadian science fiction novel; a Saskatchewan Book Award for my young adult fantasy Spirit Singer; and a City of Regina Municipal Heritage Award for my book Historic Walks of Regina and Moose Jaw. I've won several other awards and have been shortlisted for the Aurora Award and Saskatchewan Book Awards multiple times.
My university degree is in journalism: I began my career as a reporter/photographer for the Weyburn Review, and after four years was promoted to news editor, a position I held for four more years before moving to the then-fledgling Saskatchewan Science Centre as communications officer. I've been a full-time freelance writer and editor since 1993.
