Editors Canada Volunteer Participation
- Newfoundland-Labrador Twig (2015)
I offer copyediting and proofreading services primarily to self-publishing writers and entrepreneurs. I work most often on nonfiction, but I have enjoyed editing some crime fiction and memoirs. I love working with writers and professionals who see self-publishing as a way to share their expertise/passions and, ultimately, to make a difference.
After completing a BA in Humanities and an MA in Philosophy, I worked as an intern at Breakwater Books in St. John's, NL. For a year I learned the in-house side of an editor's role in the book production process. Since 2012 I've opted to work as a freelance copyeditor, proofreader, and transcriptionist, specializing in academic editing (mainly of theses and dissertations but lots of journal articles too). In 2016 I decided to focus on working with self-publishing authors.
Here's what some clients have to say about working with me:
"Erika was instrumental in helping me to prepare the first edition of Doyle's Almanac of Newfoundland (2016). Her expertise in editing and formatting, as well as her professional advice, was critical in making the almanac a publication that I was proud to present to Newfoundlanders. Erika is a pleasure to work with, a real pro!"

"I've had the enjoyable experience of working with Erika on my novel, and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for editing services. She's gone above and beyond to deliver a highly valuable service that improved my work from amateur to professional."
