Professional bookworm and freelance editor of fiction and trade non-fiction with in-house experience at HarperCollins and Penguin Random House Canada.
The services I offer include manuscript assessments and consultations, structural and substantive editing, stylistic editing, copy editing, and proofreading of trade books for adults and young readers.
A longtime advocate for authors and readers, I’ve become an expert and empathetic collaborator by wearing many hats—as an editor, writer, teacher and scholar of literature. Organized, thorough, and approachable, I’m a creative problem solver who always keeps both the tiny details and the bigger picture in focus no matter the project or the deadline. I work with both publishers and independent authors.
I'm currently on maternity leave until January 2019, but upon my return I would love to talk to you about how I can help bring out the best in your book. In the meantime, please visit erintheeditor.com for more information.
BA and MA, English, University of Western Ontario; PhD, English, University of Toronto (where I have also taught several literature courses); post-graduate training, Ryerson University courses in trade publishing, copy editing, and editing books for children and teens
