I am a writer, editor and translator with more than 15 years’ experience, both in-house and freelance.
I began my career in the copyediting department of Ladies’ Home Journal. I worked as a copyeditor for TV Guide Canada and as an editor for Style at Home, Canadian Living.com, Microsoft Home Magazine, MySweetBaby.ca (Rogers Media), MochaSofa.ca (Transcontinental Media) and WorkLivePlayCafe.com.
I have written hundreds of articles about entertainment, children's literature, health, travel, home décor and parenting for various publications, including The Globe and Mail, Canadian Living, Homemakers, Homemakers.com, The New York Times, Help! We’ve Got Kids, Quill & Quire and BellExpressvu’s Vu magazine.
A decade ago, I started translating articles, recipes and other documents from French to English for Style at Home and other Transcontinental Media properties. I have since worked on the Société des alcools du Québec’s TCHIN TCHIN and Cellier magazines, SAQ.com, CAA-Quebec’s Touring magazine and OWL magazine.
Other editorial experience includes copyediting children's novels, editing and managing the book-review blog for Mabel’s Fables children’s bookstore, creating e-newsletters and web copy, writing advertorials and press releases, and creating and executing inbound (SEO and social media) marketing plans.
Clutch, my first middle-grade novel, was published August 2017 by Red Deer Press. Clutch has been nominated for the Ontario Library Association's 2018 Silver Birch Award. I am a friend of the Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators and Performers (CANSCAIP), for which I volunteer as speaker coordinator for the organization’s annual Packaging Your Imagination conference. I am also a member of the Canadian Children’s Book Centre and served as a judge for the 2016 CWC Arthur Ellis Awards for Excellence in Canadian Crime Writing, Juvenile/YA category. As you can imagine, I read a lot of children's books.
I hold a BA in Communication Studies from Concordia University and an MA in Journalism from New York University. I recently completed the online multimedia course Into the Darkness: Investigating Film Noir from Ball State University.
I would love to discuss how I can help you with your writing, editing and translating needs.
