Peacock Blue Communications

Kitchener, ON

I'm a professional writer, editor, and communications consultant who clarifies ideas and hones phrases to help you connect with your audiences and readers.

For corporate (SMB and Enterprise) and non-profit clients:
As principal of Peacock Blue Communications, I bring a wealth of experience from the non-profit, financial services, and tech sectors to assist clients achieve project and business goals through written communications.  My projects range from media relations and reputation management to online content to corporate development initiatives. Regardless of client or project, my work is rooted in the idea that better communication builds stronger brands.

Each piece is reviewed and revised through multiple lenses:
•    Of an editor, who brings clarity and precision to the words on the page;
•    Of a communicator, who keeps client goals front-and-centre;
•    Of a relationship manager, who integrates audience needs and expectations into messaging, and
•    Of a reputation specialist, who understands the importance and implications of saying what you mean and meaning what you say.

For independent authors and scholars:
I am a versatile writer and editor who will help organize your thoughts, crisp your words and polish your text.  I bring the same skills to independent writers as I do to my corporate clients (see above)--and importantly, I help you keep your voice, so you sound like you.

I focus on non-fiction works such as articles, memoirs, histories, and cookbooks or food writing. If you English is your second (or third or...) language, I can help clarify and polish your work.

Previous editing projects:
Corporate projects include:
•    Branding, and  sales and marketing materials
•    Quarterly reports
•    White papers

Non-profit projects include:
•    Annual Reports
•    Funding packages
•    Magazines and newsletters

A little about me:
While much of my professional life has been in STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math), my own heart is in, well, HEART (Humanities, English, Arts, Rhetoric, Teaching).  I have a degree in Fine Arts-Art History Specialization, and my first career was in development and arts administration for choral music, music education, and performance (dance/ballet) companies.  My interests are fairly broad and range from ancient history to flamboyant cuttlefish to Romantic-era science.  As a freelance writer, I focus on food, food history, and foodways; my latest project is Rye & Ginger, a site focusing on Waterloo Region's foodways.
