Stonedrift Editorial Services

Kingston, ON
Experienced public speaker, available to talk to groups and associations about editors and editing.

I partner with technical, fiction and non-fiction authors at all stages of their work, from outline to publication-ready copy. My extensive writing and editing experience, supplemented by the Professional Editing Standards Certificate (Queen’s University), allows me to offer manuscript evaluation, stylistic editing, developmental editing, copy editing, proofreading, layout and design.

I bring over three decades of strong scientific and information technology experience to my technical editing projects. In addition to a B.Sc. in geology, I completed an M.Sc. in Chemical and Biological Engineering specializing in water management and environmental issues.

Computer modelling was the focus of my work in the international petroleum industry, but my consulting practice included diverse clients such as Saks Fifth Avenue, British Columbia’s Parks and Protected Services, and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).

An award-winning presenter and an enthusiastic instructor, I have designed, written, and taught numerous IT-related courses in both the private and public sector. I am also the author of The Essential PROC SQL Handbook for SAS Users published by SAS Press in 2005.

I turned my attention to fiction in 2005 and self-published the first thriller in the Alex Graham series eleven years later. Along the way, I learned the art of storytelling—and the value of a good editor.

Thirst, my debut novel, was nominated for the Whistler Independent Book Awards; Blue Fire, published in 2018, was an Adventure Writers Competition semifinalist, and a shortlisted title for the International Rubery Book Award.

I am a member of the Writers’ Union of Canada, the founding president of Sisters in Crime - Canada West, and a past Crime Writers of Canada director.
