Kelly Kristensen Editing & Literary Consulting

I help fiction writers polish their manuscripts for self-publication or submission by offering manuscript critiquing, editing, consulting, and re-writing services. I also provide writing, researching, and typing services (for authors that prefer to hand-write their books).

I critique and edit all lengths of work (novel, novella, short story, flash fiction, book series). I also critique book blurbs, outlines, and query letters.

I edit the following adult fiction genres:

Mystery, historical fiction, literary fiction, romance, thriller & suspense, LGBTQIA, women's fiction, erotica, and speculative fiction (science fiction and fantasy)

I have experience working with young adult (YA) and middle-grade fiction. I would love to edit more children's fiction, including chapter books, first readers, and picture books.

I also edit the following nonfiction books:

Memoirs, biographies, cookbooks, other projects that stand out to me

I have focused my university degree on literary criticism and creative writing and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English in Spring 2018. I am currently enrolled in Ryerson University's Certificate in Publishing. I believe in continued education, and I take workshops, seminars, and webinars throughout the year to stay up to date on writing theory, editing practices and standards, and publishing trends to learn how to serve writers and readers better.

I’m a member of the Editors' Association of Canada and the Writers' Guild of Alberta, and I am a guest member of the Editorial Freelancers Association.

About Me:

I am also a writer, and in 2017 I was a NaNoWriMo winner. In 2018 I will be taking part in 85k90 and NaNoWriMo again as a writer and editor.  I believe that the community support that writing challenges offer is very beneficial to authors of all experience levels. I have experience writing both fiction and nonfiction. I write novels, short stories, essays, and articles.

I am a voracious reader. In 2017 I read over 120 novels, short stories, plays, and works of nonfiction. In my spare time, I read and review books for NetGalley. I promote all of the books that I review and love on my Instagram and Twitter accounts.

You can find more about me (or just stop by to say hello!) on my website and social media accounts.
