Profile
A versatile, thorough editor of fiction and nonfiction + an engaging, experienced speaker.
Hello and welcome!
Editing
Do you want someone to assess, strengthen, and polish your written word, whether it’s for your corporate communications, your fiction fans-to-be, or your website visitors? As an experienced editor, I’ll help you express your ideas clearly.
I provide all levels of editing, including developmental editing, structural editing, stylistic editing, copy editing, and proofreading, as well as related services such as research and fact checking.
My projects have ranged from fiction, such as romances, mysteries, fantasy, historical fiction, and manga, to non-fiction, such as academic materials, philosophy and meditation, corporate reports, training manuals, and needs assessments.
I love working with words and ideas. Let me help you with yours.
Speaking
Are you looking to inform and engage an audience, whether they’re members of your staff, your board, or your organization? As an experienced speaker, I’ll help your presentations deliver.
Interactive workshops are my specialty from development to delivery, and I’m known for my engaging, relaxed, and informative style of presentation. Workshop subjects have included orientations, training, planning, networking, evaluations, and public speaking, among others.
I love people and learning. Let me bring them together to help you meet your goals.
Additional Expertise
In addition to editing and speaking, my experience includes 15 years working with non-profits in the international development sector. This work focused on the environment, fair trade, gender, HIV/AIDS, microfinance, public engagement, and youth.
On top of organizational leadership, human resource supervision, and management of projects in Canada and internationally, I also wrote proposals, reports, web content, and promotional materials.

Testimonials
Lynn did a terrific job editing some complex documents for my organization. She caught all our errors and gave insightful feedback about the content that really helped to make it much clearer and easier to understand for our readers. . . . She is very easy to work with, collaborative, responsive, and professional. . . . Highly recommended!
~ Darlene Gage, National Director of Training and Education, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) Canada
Lynn delivers nonsense-free, incisive yet painless editing support. . . . Methodical, fast and with nuclear-clock-like precision, Lynn will identify the problems that went unnoticed and offer simple, elegant and most ingenious solutions.
~ Stefan Dollinger, Associate Professor, Departments of English and Linguistics, UBC Vancouver, and Director, Canadian English Lab, UBC Vancouver
Lynn Slobogian was highly recommended as a copy-editor for our revamped Trustee Orientation Program workbook. . . . As I reviewed the copy edits and suggested changes I was astounded by how much she also improved the workbook for flow, tone, and sense-making. Lynn's efforts and expertise have made for a better workbook and for better results from the orientation program. Lynn did all this work with a sense of humour, generosity, and graciousness that has me looking for more opportunities to work with her.
~ Babs Kelly, Executive Director, British Columbia Library Trustees Association
Lynn and I were co-chairs of Editors Canada’s 2016 national conference as well as board members of Editors British Columbia. I have found Lynn to be an excellent team member and a very strong leader, and I greatly value her contributions and commitment. I have seen Lynn’s work ethic and attention to detail in my own work as well, as I have had the pleasure of hiring her as a subcontractor on various projects I’ve been involved with. Her work is always top-notch and delivered on time, with excellent communication throughout.
