Experienced public speaker, available to talk to groups and associations about editors and editing.

Editor, author, book trade specialist. I edit fiction and nonfiction for self-publishing, traditional publication, and agent representation—valuing both the writer's voice and professional aspirations. Through Helping You Get Published Editing and Literary Consulting, I do my utmost to assist emerging and mid-career authors with achieving their writing and publication goals in creative, commercial, and academic nonfiction, as well as fiction that includes literary, mainstream, and genre novels.

Alongside decades of varied editorial experience, as well as five books and a number of articles to my credit as an author, I have earned a PhD with specialties in history, popular culture, and publishing studies; served on two editorial boards; and taught in university and community education writing and publishing programs. My writing and editing have been featured in both the popular media and special-interest publications. I am currently working on an ebook series for authors and editors. What clients say:

You immediately validated my ability and gave credence to my voice. Not only that, but you literally catapulted my manuscript from the mass of languishing manuscripts in the slush pile and brought it to none other than HarperCollins. That's quite a coup...
--Richard Dube, author of The Haven

Thank you, Patricia, for your insightful editing, and your support and encouragement during the difficult moments along the path to being in print--you really did help us get published!
--Ian Johnson, PhD,  author of How to Lead and Still Have a Life!

I will not hesitate to recommend your service to anyone in need of outstanding professional editing work.
