Profile

I am a developmental editor, copy editor, and proofreader with over seven years of experience in editing both trade and academic works. I have experience in trade publishing as an in-house editor and as an acquisitions editor, and I am well versed on the publishing, acquisitions, and agenting processes.

On the trade side, I edit young adult fiction, including fantasy, and adult fiction and non-fiction. As a queer editor, I enjoy working with LGBTQ writers on their writing projects. I was an in-house editor for almost four years, including, most recently, working as an acquisitions editor at Dundurn Press in Toronto. In this role, I acquired books in multiple genres, including: literary novels Even So by Lauren B. Davis, Evie of the Deepthorn by André Babyn, and After Elias by Eddy Boudel Tan; thriller The Day She Died by S.M. Freedman; memoir People You Follow by Hayley Gene Penner; biographies Outrageous Misfits by Brian Bradley and The Captain Was a Doctor by Jonathon Reid; and queer YA fantasy novel The Girl of Hawthorn and Glass by Adan Jerreat-Poole. I was also an associate editor at The Rights Factory (TRF), a Canadian literary agency, where I worked with TRF authors to help polish their manuscripts before submission to publishers.

On the academic side, I have a BA and MA in English from the University of Toronto and a Publishing Certificate from Ryerson University. I have edited full-length academic manuscripts as well as book proposals and articles. I’m also a graduate research assistant at the Inclusive Design Research Centre (IDRC) at OCAD University.
