Scott Uzelman, PhD
I have a PhD from York University and more than 15 years experience as a writer, editor, and teacher of academic writing.
I have edited dozens of peer-reviewed books (collections and single-authored) and many journal articles for academics in a wide range disciplines (e.g., Communication Studies, Cultural Studies, Education, Sociology, Philosophy, History, Political Science, Psychology, Geography). I have worked with numerous graduate students in the social sciences to improve the quality of their theses and dissertations.
As the recipient of several prestigious academic scholarships and grants (SSHRC PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowships, OGS), I have shared my skills as a grant writer and assisted many graduate students in the preparation of successful research grant and scholarship proposals.
I have also worked with individuals and organizations to create and improve written materials targeting specialist and non-specialist audiences (e.g., non-fiction books, reports, guidebooks, presentations, speeches, articles). Past clients include the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Status of Women Canada, the Canadian Union for Public Employees, the Public Service Alliance of Canada, the Mental Health Coalition of Canada, Queen's University, Springer International Publishing, and Dennery Resources.
I look forward to helping you to craft excellent written communication!
