Helping writers to develop their own clear, powerful voices is my special skill and delight. I have twenty-plus years of experience in substantive, developmental and copy editing of nonfiction and fiction.

As a trainer and developmental editor I work one-to-one with you to develop your writing skills as you develop your manuscript. This offers you hands-on advice and feedback useful for your work in progress, plus skills that you can apply to your future work.

In manuscript evaluation of both fiction and nonfiction I read mainly for voice, setting, dialogue, pace, character development and other aspects of storytelling. I also note grammar, spelling, punctuation, diction and style. I provide comments on your writing’s strengths and areas for further work.

My writing and editing have won national and provincial awards. As a writer of fiction and nonfiction, I carry out a writing project from research to finished manuscript. Maclean's Magazine called me "a writer of astonishing grace and control."

"Because you see me as a storyteller and writer, I now see myself that way," one of my clients wrote. Another thanked me for "brilliant and incisive help."

Tell me about your project -- I welcome queries.
