Nycole Bélanger studied translation and linguistics at the Université de Montréal. For more than twenty years, she managed linguistic services in large companies: Air Canada, Canadian National, Glaxo Wellcome. After that, for nearly fifteen years she occupied the post of professional training manager in the linguistics and translation department of the Université de Montréal. Nycole Bélanger is a member of OTTIAQ, certified as a translator and terminologist. She is responsible for the certified terminologists’ committee of the OTTIAQ.
Carlos del Burgo holds a master’s degree in translation and a bachelor’s in English. He worked in-house for about fifteen years: as a translator at Simpson’s, Sun Life, Pratt & Whitney, and in two translation agencies including La Langagerie; he was a terminologist at Bell. As a freelancer for the past thirty years, he has worked a lot in aeronautics and defense. He teaches translation and terminology at the Université de Montréal, Concordia and McGill. He is a mentor (translation and terminology) at OTTIAQ, member of the terminology committee and author of the terminology column in L’antenne express, as well as various articles in Meta and in Circuit. He is also a SQRP-certified writer.
Claude Brodeur is a member of the certified terminologists’ committee of OTTIAQ and, as such, helps spread the word about the value of the terminology profession at roundtables on terminological practice. She studied at the Université de Montréal and holds a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and a master’s in applied linguistics specialized in terminology, as well as having done a foundation course in translation. For many years she practiced as a professional terminologist before taking on positions as editor and editorial manager at large insurance companies, notably Manulife, Canada Life and Great-West, as well as in a big translation office in Montreal. For the past three-plus years, she has held the position of consultant in the linguistics department at the risk-management company Willis Towers Watson.
Don’t miss this unique chance to learn more about terminology while taking advantage of the opportunity to mix with members of Editors Québec. Please confirm your attendance before Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

What is an editor? What role does an editor play? What can we expect from such a language expert? How can an editor meet client expectations within imposed deadlines and budgets? How can the feeling of accomplishment be reconciled with mandates that focus solely on the "prescriptive" aspect? These are some of the questions that will feed the discussion led in French by France Brûlé, an experienced editor who has long reflected on the subject, especially while preparing her master’s thesis.
Come and talk with other professionals over a good meal! This first Dinner & Discussion organized by Editors Québec in the Vieille Capitale will be an opportunity to reflect on the craft of editing in a convivial setting.
