New Directions in Canadian Short Fiction is a FREE public event geared to writers, editors, and readers of short fiction. It is being co-hosted by Editors Toronto, the Canadian Authors Association, Iguana Books, and the Creative Writing Program at the School of Continuing Studies, University of Toronto.

  • Presentations from four seasoned and newer writers, editors, and publishers: Jessica Westhead (What Not to Do and And Also Sharks, Cormorant Books, 2017 and 2011), Alexandra Leggat (owner/editor/publisher of Two Wolves Press), JF Garrard (owner/editor/publisher of Dark Helix Press), and Michael Mirolla (co-owner/editor/publisher of Guernica Editions)
  • Readings from Blood Is Thicker, a new anthology of short fiction jointly published by the Canadian Authors Association and Iguana Books
  • An audiovisual presentation about short fiction in Canada today
  • A raffle stocked with prizes for writers, editors, and readers of short fiction
