Read up on the results of the 2007 Certification Program Test Administration. A report and accompanying cover letter are now posted in Interactive Voice.

Interested in EAC Certification? Are you a highly skilled editor who has demonstrated a high level of knowledge and skill in the profession? This November, EAC will offer a test in Structural and Stylistic Editing for the first time, as well as tests in Elementary Knowledge of the Publishing Process and Copy Editing. A Proofreading test will be offered next in 2009. Registration opens on July 23.

To assess your readiness and see what the tests involve, check out EAC Certification: Study Guide and Exemplars. The fourth and final volume, Structural and Stylistic Editing, is now available for sale. Each volume of the Study Guide provides you with a comprehensive introduction to one of the certification tests, including a practice test, an answer key and sample performances with markers’ comments. Working through the relevant volumes of the Study Guide is a hands-on way to engage with the standards and identify gaps in your current knowledge and skills.

Visit the association website for more information on EAC Certification.

2. ONLINE DIRECTORY OF EDITORS: New ODE coming this September

This summer, you’ll see a new version of the Online Directory of Editors, the official advertising directory of association members for use by clients, employers and colleagues. A development team is hard at work and committed to delivering a brand new directory in September. The redeveloped ODE is being designed with functionality in mind. Members and employers alike will enjoy a complete aesthetic overhaul and a more user-friendly platform.

More than 360 EAC members have already signed up for a listing in the Online Directory of Editors. A listing through June 2009 costs just $7.50* per month (to a maximum of $75*). Don’t pass up this opportunity to promote yourself!

3. CONFERENCE 2008: In pictures

If you attended Conference 2008: Editing in the Global Village, you probably noticed pre-conference workshop presenter Marilyn Jones snapping photos over the course of the three-day event in Edmonton. Feel like reminiscing? Weren’t there, but wonder what you missed? Visit Marilyn’s Flickr page to view her conference photos. Creative captioning is encouraged!

4. CAFEPRESS: Celebrate summer

Ready to enjoy some fun in the sun? Make EAC’s CafePress shop your first stop en route to a glorious summer! Stave off the heat in an EAC T-shirt as the mercury rises. Perhaps it’s an EAC barbecue apron or beer stein you’re after. The association’s secure online shop is where you’ll find all of the unusual, fun and irreverent products you’ll need to keep your cool this summer.
