Editors Canada stands against anti-Black racism

The Editors’ Association of Canada (Editors Canada) condemns the systemic racism and racial violence aimed at Black people.

Part of the job of an editor is to see bias and root it out. We support freedom of press and freedom of peaceful assembly and denounce those working to hinder these rights. We stand with our members and the members of our community working to raise the voices of people of colour. Black Lives Matter.

The experiences and voices of Black people cannot be ignored. We’re looking for ways to better implement our Statement of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (www.editors.ca/about-editors-canada). We want to take steps to implement this statement, in ways that we can in a member-run organization. If you have ideas, or you want to volunteer on this, please email pastpresident@editors.ca.

We’re listening. We’re learning. We will do better.
