Wham! Pow! Shazam! In this webinar, you’ll learn some cool editorial moves to help you break into the graphic novel and comic book scene.

The Booker Prize longlist this year included a graphic novel for the first time. Penguin Random House is launching a graphic novel imprint for kids. R.L. Stine has recently signed a graphic novel deal with Boom! Studios. Comics and graphic novels are big business right now, but the conventions that govern them can be mysterious to the uninitiated.

This webinar will walk you through the conventions of structure, style, punctuation, mechanics, and typography in graphic novels and comics (not manga). It will help you untangle questions like why do some (but not all) of these letters have serifs? Does this caption box require quotation marks? What are these weird whiskery punctuation marks? WHY IS EVERYTHING IN ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME?

This webinar will be of interest to all editors, proofreaders, and communication professionals with an interest in this booming niche industry.
