LITERARY EDITING WORKSHOP (FULL)
(Presentations in French)
Would you like to edit manuscripts and work in the literary field? Editors Québec has something for you! Following the success of the February 2018 publishing roundtable, the association now offers you the chance to explore fiction editing with the valuable advice of an experienced literary editor.
Date: Tuesday, March 5, 2019
Time: Editing workshop from 6:00 to 8:30 pm, followed by a discussion period with the editor, and networking among colleagues
Location: Halte 24/7, 4284 rue de La Roche, between Rachel and Mont-Royal, in Montreal, Québec
Public transit: Mont-Royal metro station; one-day parking tags are available at the reception desk and cost $6
Cost: Free for members and students (presentation of student card at the door required), and $10 for non-members.
This workshop will allow you to apply your knowledge while you learn the field’s rules and usages in a literary context. Once registered, you will receive a short story to edit in advance, in the comfort of your own home. Then, the evening of the event, Julie-Jeanne Roy, a seasoned literary editor, will edit the text in a plenary session. With the workshop participants, she will work over the short story with a fine-toothed comb, discuss the various revisions brought by each of them, and offer recommendations and advice based on her professional experience.
This is an ideal opportunity to benefit from her judicious advice. Julie-Jeanne will also take advantage of it to discuss her own career path and to respond to your questions about the world of literary editing.
Biographical notes on Julie-Jeanne Roy
Julie-Jeanne Roy has been practising as an editor for more than 15 years. Over that time, she has worked for a number of magazines and publishing houses. She has been literary manager and editorial assistant at Éditions de la Courte Échelle and La Mèche. She is also a manuscript evaluator, editor and translator.
Seize this unique opportunity to apply your knowledge to a work of fiction and to learn more about this field. In addition, take advantage of the occasion to talk with members of the Editors Québec branch.
This activity is now full.
