Editors Canada’s annual conference would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of dozens of superhero volunteers each year. Volunteering at the conference is a fun and rewarding opportunity to network, enjoy the company of other editors, get to know your association, and build your resumé.
The conference committee is looking for volunteers to take on the following roles during the conference:
This is your chance to connect personally with the speakers you’ve been wanting to get to know but haven’t had an excuse or an opportunity to contact. As a session host, your job is to introduce your speakers, keep track of time during the session, troubleshoot during the session, and distribute and collect session evaluation forms.
Registration desk representatives
Meet and greet your fellow conference attendees! This is a fantastic, fun opportunity to meet editors from across the country, match faces to names you already know, and introduce yourself to dozens of people without worrying about what to say. The registration desk is staffed throughout the conference by volunteers in two- or three-hour shifts, so you have plenty of time to attend the sessions you want as well as help out with this crucial task.
Vendor fair assistants
The vendor fair is a mini-market at the conference. Vendors usually staff their own tables, but volunteers are needed to set up tables and assist the vendors.
Conference kit assemblers
Do you want a chance to check out the conference swag before everyone else? Work up an appetite for the Thursday welcome dinner? Volunteers are needed to assemble conference kits and name badges on Thursday, June 8.
