Conference 2013 is over. Thanks to all the participants, speakers and volunteers for your contributions toward EAC's successful conference in Halifax.See you next year in Toronto, June 6th to 8th, 2014.WelcomeWe are the Nova Scotia twig of the Editors' Association of Canada, and we invite you all to the 2013 EAC/ACR conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia. What's New?HandoutsHandouts for selected presentations are posted here (From Frances Peck, Marie-Claude Rioux, Elizabeth Macfie, Alexa Thompson, * * * * Hope you had a good time at the conference. We sure did, and we sincerely thank everyone who came and helped make it a splendid event. The 2013 committee (June 9, 2013) The Lord Nelson hotel is where the conference action happens – smack dab in the middle of Halifax. The program is as full as ever, with pre-conference workshops, five simultaneous session streams (including French-language presentations), reception, banquet, awards, an AGM, and much socializing. We are especially pleased to be joined by the Indexing Society of Canada (ISC/SCI), who will host their annual conference with us in Halifax. See the ISC website for details of their program. We also welcome members of the Canadian Authors Association (CAA), the Writers Federation of Nova Scotia (WFNS), and the Plain Language Association InterNational (PLAIN), who are eligible for EAC member rates on registration. C'mon down eastThis will be the first ever EAC/ACR conference to be held east of Quebec. Those of you from Atlantic Canada or who have spent some time here know what a wonderful and historic part of Canada it is. The rest of you will certainly know that too, after attending the 2013 conference and experiencing down-east hospitality. Halifax is one of my favourite North American cities. I'd love to live there! I look forward to visiting some of my favourite downtown spots. —Noeline Bridge, Moncton We invite you to explore Halifax and Nova Scotia via the Destination Halifax and Destination Nova Scotia links. To get a feel for what happens in the vicinity of the conference hotel, you might want to visit the Spring Garden Road area website. Cape Breton Island (need we say more?) is a mere four hours away by car from Halifax. And don't forget that Halifax is handy to Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick – it's less than five hours by car to downtown Charlottetown or Saint John. Getting to HalifaxGetting here is a cinch – by air (Air Canada, Porter, or WestJet), rail (the Via Ocean), or road (four lanes almost all the way). Please don't think of Nova Scotia as being remote; it's closer than you think. For directions to the conference hotel, click here. Speaking of the conference hotel, the Lord Nelson is holding a block of rooms for us. See the Accommodation page for rates and booking information. * * * * Keynote AddressesWe are thrilled to announce that two well-known personalities and authors, Robert MacNeil and Donna Morrissey, will be participating in the 2013 conference.
