Dr. Runté edits speculative fiction at, but as a former professor also edits  theses, dissertations, memoir and nonfiction as Senior Editor at He is also Senior Editor with Five River Publishing, for which he has acquired/edited over 30 books.

As a former professor and thesis supervisor, Dr. Runté is especially well equipted to edit theses and dissertations in Education, Social Science, Humanities, Business, and Nursing. (He does not edit in math or the hard sciences.) Two of the theses Dr. Runté supervised were subsequently published as books; another won the Govenor General's Gold Medal for that campus. A variety of  resources for graduate students, such as Dr. Runté's 32 page guide to Writing Strategies for Theses and Dissertations, are available *FREE* from the website.

As a long-time reviewer, critic, and promoter of Canadian speculative fiction, Dr. Runté is also especially knowledgable as a structural and substantive editor of SF&F. He is the winner of three Aurora Awards for literary criticism, including over 70 published reviews; the SF&F entry in the Encyclopedia of Canadian Literature; and innumberable conference presentations and workshops. He has edited over 30  traditionally published SF&F novels so far, two of which (both by first-time authors) were shortlisted for Aurora Awards. He has edited novels by such well known authors as Dave Duncan, and successful self-publishers such as S.E. Sasaki.

As Senior Editor at, Dr. Runté also works with a variety of materials, from memoir to general fiction to non-fiction. Dr. Runté collaborates with the other editors at to ensure that whatever projects come in are assigned to the most appropriate editor for that topic/genre.

Dr. Runté spent a decade as a Test Development Specialist for Alberta's Education (provincial government) and taught undergraduate courses in student assessment for another 20 years. He is therefore available to design, construct, or edit tests, test policy, or assessment reports. Somewhat similar to test development, Dr. Runté also edits surveys and questionnaires, having taught graduate courses in research methods including survey and interview design.
