Editors Canada stands against anti-Black racism

Published on: June 04, 2020

The Editors' Association of Canada (Editors Canada) condemns the systemic racism and racial violence aimed at Black people.

Part of the job of an editor is to see bias and root it out. We support freedom of press and freedom of peaceful assembly and denounce those working to hinder these rights. We stand with our members and the members of our community working to raise the voices of people of colour. Black Lives Matter.

We need your continued support

On behalf of the national executive council, I'd like to say how touched we are at the response from Editors Canada members and the editing community following the cancellation of the 2020 International Editors Conference due to the threat of COVID-19.

Many of you have offered kind words of support to our conference committee. Thank you for recognizing the months of hard work they put into this event and the disappointment they are feeling now. We're immensely proud of the work they've done.
